Step 1 - Acceptance for a course

  • In order to be accepted for a particular study programme offered by City Business College you must first answer the following questions:
  • Do you have qualifications and certificates that will be accepted for studies in the UK?
(Students must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs and/or 'O' levels or equivalent as a general entry qualification). Overseas students with first degrees and work experience will be given preference.
  • Assuming you are suitably qualified for acceptance on a course, do you have sufficient funds (and/or a suitable sponsor) for College fees and living expenses for the duration of your studies?
  • Have you completed your application form correctly? Students must enclose:
  1. Two passport photographs.
  2. Attested photocopies of qualifications /certificates.
  3. Sponsor's letter.
  4. Minimum Deposit (see current fees list), - payable to "City Business College".
  5. Payment of fees. Overseas students are advised to pre-pay ONE FULL YEAR'S TUITION FEES several months prior to the commencement of the course. This allows sufficient time for correspondence with the College and also for your visa interview. British students may locally confirm course places with the payment of a course deposit.
  6. Overseas applications made less than six weeks before the start date will be automatically transferred to the next starting date.
  7. Please send the completed application form, together with the fees, by registered post to City Business College, 178 Goswell Road, London EC1V 7DT.
    1. OVERSEAS STUDENTS - If applying from overseas the payment of your fees can be made by International Money Order or by cheque drawn on a London bank and in GBP (sterling). You may also pay by direct bank transfer to City Business College at BARCLAYS, Barclays Bank PLC, 38 Islington Green, London N1 8EH, Bank Account number: 70389870, Branch Sort Code: 20-44-86, Swift code: BARC GB22, IBAN: GB86 BARC 2044 8670 3898 70.
    2. LOCAL STUDENTS - The payment of your fees can be made by cash or cheque payable to City Business College or with a credit or debit card and cash. Please note that we can not accept transfers from a UK Bank for students applying in Britain unless details can be verified.

Step 2 - Applying for your Student Visa to enter the UK

British High Commissions and Consulates throughout the world will be pleased to assist genuine students wishing to travel to the UK for full-time studies.

Students must first obtain Form IM2 A (application for United Kingdom Entry Clearance) from the local British Consulate Immigration Section.

Students will require the following documents in order to successfully complete the application forms - please check the list:

  1. Two passport photographs.
  2. Valid passport.
  3. Final acceptance letter from City Business College for your course, confirming starting date of studies and payment of tuition fees.
  4. Payment of tuition fees. (Please note that payment of the registration fee alone is not accepted by the British Immigration Authorities.) Students are strongly advised to prepay tuition fees in full.
  5. Name and address of sponsor and letter from sponsor to confirm that tuition fees and living expenses will be covered.
  6. Provisional date of departure for London (airline and arrival details).

Step 3 - Obtaining your UK Visa

If you have completed your checklist you may now submit your visa application form - with visa fee in local currency - to the British High Commission or Embassy who will arrange a date for an interview. (Please note that you may be asked questions about the structure of the course and how it may benefit your career.)

Students from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia and Jamaica are not eligible to travel directly to the UK without first obtaining a Visa at the local British High Commission.

Students with EU passports will not require a Visa to enter the UK.

Students from other countries may obtain a student Visa at the Airport or Seaport of entry by providing the following documents, but are advised to check the position with a British Embassy or Consulate before departure:

A) Valid passport.
B) Final acceptance letter to confirm payment of tuition fees.
C) In the case of a sponsored student, a letter confirming sponsorship.
D) Medical certificate.

Late Arrivals

Students are warned not to arrive after the start date of the course. Students may, however, still join a course within 3 weeks from the start date for their course, with permission in writing from the college.
